What Is Peripheral Neuropathy?
Peripheral neuropathy happens when nerves outside the brain and spinal cord become damaged or don’t work as they should. These nerves help carry signals involved in sensation, movement, and other functions throughout the body.
There isn’t one single cause. Neuropathy may be associated with diabetes or blood-sugar problems, certain medications, including chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, alcohol use, injuries, and other medical conditions. Spinal conditions and a history of spinal surgery may also be relevant. That’s why your health history is an important part of the evaluation.

Meet Dr. Matt Thomas
Dr. Matt Thomas leads the neuropathy program at 360 Chiropractic & Wellness and has cared for Frisco patients since the practice opened in 2006. He works with patients experiencing numbness, tingling, burning, weakness, balance problems, and other symptoms associated with peripheral neuropathy.
His approach starts with understanding each patient’s history and evaluating their current neurological function. From there, the team determines whether the patient may be a candidate for the clinic’s comprehensive neuropathy program.
Because some forms of peripheral neuropathy can progress, Dr. Matt encourages anyone with persistent or worsening symptoms to seek an evaluation rather than simply waiting for them to become more severe.
Dr. Matt’s approach considers factors such as circulation and oxygen delivery to the nerves while looking beyond symptom management alone.
